Creating a Safe and Respectful Campus: Highlights from Anti-Ragging Week at NIMS Dental College & Hospital

26 Aug

At NIMS Dental College & Hospital in Jaipur, the fight against ragging is a top priority. Recently, the college hosted an Anti-Ragging Orientation Program and a week-long series of activities to promote a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment. Here’s a look at what happened during this important week.

Anti-Ragging Orientation Program

On August 12, 2024, Day 1 , the college kicked off its anti-ragging efforts with a comprehensive orientation program held from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The event took place at Lecture Hall I and was attended by a significant number of attendees, including Dr. Sunil Sharma, the Pro Vice Chancellor of NIMS University, and Dr. M.K. Sunil, the Principal of NIMS Dental College & Hospital. Faculty members, members of the anti-ragging committee, and both undergraduate (BDS) and postgraduate (MDS) students also participated.

Dr. Akansha, an Associate Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics, played a key role in the program. She delivered a powerful lecture on the importance of anti-ragging policies, discussing the legal and ethical implications of ragging and emphasizing the support available for victims. Her message was clear: the college is committed to a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and strives to create a safe, inclusive atmosphere for all students.

Anti-Ragging Week Activities

Following the orientation, NIMS Dental College & Hospital celebrated Anti-Ragging Week from August 12 to August 17, 2024. This week was packed with engaging activities designed to further promote the anti-ragging message.

Day 2: Essay and Poster Competitions

On August 13, the second day featured an Essay and Poster Competition. The essay competition allowed students to explore and express their thoughts on the impact of ragging, while the poster competition encouraged creative teamwork to visually represent anti-ragging messages. Both competitions aimed to deepen students' understanding and foster creativity in spreading awareness.

Day 3: Logo and Slogan Competitions

The third day, August 14, saw the Logo and Slogan Competitions. Students designed logos and crafted slogans to represent the anti-ragging cause. These creations will be used in future campaigns to reinforce the message of respect and solidarity across campus. The entries were judged on their creativity and relevance, with winners receiving recognition for their outstanding contributions.

Day 4: Skit Competition

On August 16, the focus was on the Skit Competition. Held at the reception area, this event provided a dynamic platform for students to perform skits that highlighted the importance of a ragging-free environment. The skits were a creative way to address the issue and engage the college community in a discussion about respect and inclusion.

Continuing the Commitment

The Anti-Ragging Week at NIMS Dental College & Hospital was a successful initiative that highlighted the institution’s dedication to combating ragging. The various activities not only raised awareness but also involved students actively in promoting a respectful and supportive campus environment. The college's commitment to eliminating ragging and ensuring a safe space for all students continues to be a top priority, with ongoing efforts to reinforce these values through educational and engaging activities.

By fostering a culture of respect and vigilance, NIMS Dental College & Hospital is paving the way for a positive and inclusive academic experience for everyone involved.
