Prof. Vladimír Mařík, born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, holds M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Cybernetics
from the Czech Technical University.
He's a Full Professor at the university, founding the Department of Cybernetics in 1999 and later
founding and directing the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics, and Cybernetics (CIIRC) in
2013.
He also founded the Rockwell Automation Research Center Prague and serves as Chairman of the Board
of CertiCon, a.s. He's a key figure in the Czech National Initiative Industry 4.0.
Marik's research contributions span robotics, expert systems, agent-based control, and production
planning. He's published over 160 papers, co-authored books, and holds patents.
He's an IEEE Fellow and Life Fellow, serving in various IEEE roles. Additionally, he's involved in
supporting research through foundations and serves on governmental councils.
Marik has received numerous awards, including the Austrian Honorary Cross and the ABB-IEEE
"Long-life Contribution to Factory Automation" Award.
