MEASURES UNDERTAKEN TO CURB THE MENACE OF RAGGING IN TERMS OF PREVENTION AND PROHIBITION OF RAGGING IN MEDICAL COLLEGES/ INSTITUTIONS REGULATIONS, 2009 |

Nims University and NIMS Medical College has taken all the measures prescribed for curbing ragging as per the order of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and directive circular of University Grants Commission for curbing the menace of ragging in higher educational institutions 2009 u/s 26(1)(g) of UGC Act 1956. |

In addition to an Anti Ragging Committee at University level, there is an Anti Ragging Committee for NIMS Medical College. Medical College has a “Mentors Cell” and senior students as “Mentors” for the freshers. |

A circular has been issued by the Registrar, Nims University and Principal, NIMS Medical College providing the names and telephone numbers of around 15 faculty members to whom students may report in event of any incident of ragging. |

| |
5. Following are the measures taken by the Nims University and NIMS Medical College for curbing the menace of ragging:
- All students who are admitted are required to submit an Affidavit to the effect.
- Parents of students are required to submit an Affidavit.
- University prospectus under the Head Students Conduct and Discipline Rules specify ragging as an act of Indiscipline.
- The notification to the effect that Ragging is a punishable offence is made through Posters, Notices, Circulars etc. in the campus of the University.
- The Principal of all constituent colleges including NIMS Medical College addresses all the functionaries including students, Hostel Wardens, workers, faculty members and provide clear instructions and warning.
- University campus is kept well lighted during night.
- Anti-ragging squad of the University takes round and keep vigil of the campus. This squad consists of faculty members and hostel wardens.
- The local police is informed of the number of hostels and inmates on the campus.
- “Whom to contact in the event of Ragging” – such posters and notices are displayed in the campus. The poster/notices have names and telephone numbers of faculty members of anti-ragging committee.
- Junior students on their arrival to campus are given orientation programme.
- Arrange meeting to develop acquaintance between senior and junior students.
- In the hostel, wardens are required to arrange such meeting.
- Faculty members by turn interact with the students to develop fellow feeling.
- The Constitution of Anti Ragging Committee of the Nims University is as below:

- Besides, each college has an additional committee to check ragging in the college premises besides giving helping hand to University Anti Ragging Committee.
